Prelude I 00:57

The Bird 03:25
I found a bird with a small, tattered, broken wing And all he could do was sing And hope that he was safe. But he went on his way To a place where he could fly and not be harmed. He said, "I fell out of the tree that my mother put me in And all I need now is a friend to help me on my way" So we went on our way to a place where we could fly and not be harmed A place where we could fly so high and not have to wonder why We don't land I will go and stretch my wings Raise up my voice and sing And give everything to you But I am a boy with a young, tiny bit of faith and all I can do is pray, "God, please keep me safe" And I went on my way To a place where I could fly and not be harmed.

Curiosity 03:17
They say I killed the cat I can't say that they're wrong I know I'm more than that You wont have to wait for long They say you will get too hurt I can't say that it's true Just suck it up and flirt Burn the laces on your shoes Tell me son, what do you see? A swinging child below a dying tree Tell me son, what do I do? Push his heart to be a special few Tell me son, what do I say? Will the sun always set at the end of the day? They say the world is flat I can't say that it's wise Claim more than a chat You'll see the conversation rise They say your mind's too young I can't say I know best Mind your newfound tongue In time you'll learn the rest
4.
Hello son how have you been? How long have you been free of sin? Shards of glass like memories Scraping up against your knees Tell me son, tell me again. Tell me that the cost was true No matter how, no matter who I knew that you had it in you I'm so glad you had it in you Tell me son, how high you flew? Christopher do you think it right For all the blood and all the fight? Christopher did you say it loud When he said go and you said how? Oh Christopher. Tell me again How long were you in that square How long did you live in there? Your battle scars are long and weary Your shining eyes are dark and dreary Tell me son, state with care My bloody days are always numbered And now I know that I can slumber I feared so long that I would rot In a padded cell without a cot But now I know I can sleep with peace To see my Christopher so at ease. And I bowed my head in disbelief As I dug up the seeds of evil grief To live a life without this sin Means that I must be home again.

The Olde North was gleaming in the sun I could see through the 'fold She looked so stunning, like the sea from what the others had me told I was led by the hand through the streets through the air of latter May I could hear her voice, float in the wind Calling, beckoning my way From this day on dear, I'll always love you So take this ring that I thee wed. Then we kissed and went to Tennessee To try find a way to the moon I was in love with a boyhood dream And she said she loved me too We had big dreams and we had a plan Dreams never come with room for error We were fearless in the night We could float on midnight air A bunch of kids and house on rolling hills And probably a spotted dog or two I was living a boyhood dream And she was living her dream too
6.
Oh My goodness gracious me Oh my goodness gracious me My wife is home, sick in bed, Dying, crying from an achin' head Cryin' Oh My goodness gracious me All She wants are pearl white teeth All She wants are pearl white teeth Sayin' Doctor Doctor get in there Give me a great ole grinnin pair Crying' Oh my goodness gracious me She don't like her achy knees She don't like her achy knees Crying honey help me up the stairs So I can fix my curly hair Crying oh my goodness gracious me When I'm dead, make sure you go and grieve When I'm dead, make sure you go and grieve Go to church and dry your eyes I'll be watching from way up high Crying oh my goodness gracious me
7.
Black Hole 06:07
Train a child the way he should go You think you can, but you'll never really know Two weeks in, my heart has no control Clammy hands and wavy peppered hair He doesn't seem to try to even care Diet coke, and a cluttered desk his home Ch: My faith went down a black hole And it doesn't matter what I've been told It took the place where I had put my soul Cuz what I see now is a black hole We wait to hear the sound of your own drum But we only hear the doctor sigh and hum Our lives from then have changed to who we are Our tears began to fall as we know The look on his face is not a show We start to dust the pieces of our hearts

On the night I said farewell To my little Annabelle I cried. I never met her in this life But I knew she had her mother's eyes And smile I told her about her mother's hair And the rides at the county fair In June. How we moved our life to Tennessee For adventure and a chance to see The moon Ch: Oh darling don't you wait on me. You've got better things go and see You'll never know how goodbyes tend to go So I love you little Annabelle Rose I described to her the love of God And knew she'd know soon enough In His arms So I let my baby girl to sleep And left the room so I could weep All I ask is why. My little girl should die For your cause? But I know that You're good. Yes, I know that You're a good God. Please tell me You're good.
9.
I don't know what you've been told But I'm a dangerous man. I'll kill, I'll cheat, I'll steal, I'll lie I'll leave all the blood on my hands I'm, right on the edge. Of real and fake But I'll be on my way Who's soul shall I take? I'll grin and laugh when I stab your back And help you get down to your knees If you want the torture to stop All you say is please I'll hold your hand as you call for help I'll even call your wife But don't ask me to tell you why I lead a double life. I'll run a sword into your neck And laugh when you began to faint I'll grasp your face and draw you close I Dub Thee a Plaster saint

Mr. Crockett 04:19
He climbs the third story to look at his view In his bare feet and a book about love. he imagines him self in a hat made of fur And he's friends with the sparrows above. But that was then, and he is now. Mr. Crockett died, and we all know how There's no sin in changing your heart made of gold Gray brings out his curious eyes. He's not complaining, he's not upset. He'll have to fall before he must fly. With every tear that he cried, Mr. Crockett lived before he died. Listen up children and hear what he says. There's no shame in living your life. God has molded him into such a man That does not bow down to strife. His smile shines, one more time Mr. Crockett lived for real this time

about

Caleb Christopher Edwards makes his debut with a coming-of-age story in the form of a "bluegrass opera". Edwards weaves in and out of leaving his home state of Indiana and starting college in eastern Kentucky in "The Bird" and "Curiosity" while juggling thematic themes of new love in "200 North 11th Street" and "Goodness Gracious Me" and faith in "To Christopher". The story comes to a climax with what has been nicknamed the "Grief Suite" which explores illness, death, shock, anger, and redemption throughout the second half.
Edwards commands the story with a clear mandolin and poignant observations and is followed by catchy melodies and musicianship that offers a fresh take on the bluegrass form. The results are more of a folk-rock album with Nashville's best working freshman musicians.

about

Caleb Christopher Edwards Nashville, Tennessee

Edwards mixes his folksy tenor, ringing melodies, and melodic poetry in a glass to toast as an earthy, American cocktail. Lyrics of hope, doubt, and wonder ground his songs like muddled sugar while his swift, peaty mandolin garnishes the glass rim. While Edwards’ spirit is smooth, it ignites a fire that audiences can carry for a lifetime: a truly refreshing glass of American folk music. ... more
