I wrote this song back in 2018 after exploring the prompt, "daydreaming". This song explores the fact that most daydreamers either have to give up their dreams for a functioning life in society or they die trying. After reading John Krakauer's book, Into the Wild, I was smitten with the life and tragedy of Christopher McCandless who literally burned all his cash and lived in a yellow Datsun before embarking on his fatal trip to Alaska.

Where a man deep in thought needs an alibi
So his wife doesn't fret and imagine that he's
Crazy

So lets all take a moment for the young and the old
For the ones that played it safe and always did what they're told
It's alright to lose some sleep at night.

There's a road that I won't drive cause it freaks me out
To think that all I did was try to talk about
A time and a place that felt so far away
From a time I felt was calling for me
I had to get around the fact that I was twenty three
So I hung up my flaws and I put on my favorite red cape.

So let's all take a moment for the boys and the girls
That lose their chance to dream for a date with the world
I just might, lose some sleep tonight

There's a book that I would read when I was just a kid
About a man that spoke his mind never sorry what he did
He lived a short life but he never looked away
long enough to lose his sage
Then I realized I was close enough to be his age
So I burnt all my cash and lived right out of a Datsun.

So Let's all take a moment for the one's in the cold
That showed us how to dream but never grew to be old
It's alright, to lose some sleep at night.
